Project Description
One of the most difficult of tasks, apart from the purely physical aspects facing Police Forces countrywide, is that of bringing together information from different sources to complete an investigation file. As mobile telephones are rapidly becoming an essential part of modern life, the police often find that the conversations carried out by officers and suspects alike on mobile phones can be a key tool in the identification of regular contacts and reporting.
The application and use of Optical Character Recognition (OCR) word search to scanned paper bills has made searching for information routine and highly efficient. Whilst most mobile telephone companies these days offer the Constabularies information in digital format, it is still not 100% available.
Scanning and the application of OCR word search to telephone bills is still a most useful and efficient way of obtaining information.
